Hey folks, A month from now, a big Press Release of mine is going to be hitting the media, or so I hope. I'm looking for tips to expand my target reach here. It's a big news story, and definitely going to be catching A LOT of peoples eyes, so I need to market this news story WELL. I'm looking for suggestions from you folks. What are the best sites for publishing your story? I know of PRWeb and stuff, but I need to base my decision on the opinions of people who've had success with press releases. So if you're out there, lend out some tips. Because it'd be greatly appreciated.
www.AP.org - find your regional office. You'll get your best results with manual distribution, so at least do that around your local area in addition to using newswires. Don't get sucked into the trap of submitting to every release distribution site out there. The small added benefit past the first few doesn't justify the time you'll spend submitting it. 5 or 6 is plenty, but I'd say don't go over 10. Look for bigger sites / blogs and send the release directly to them. That includes looking at the big content networks like About - you may hate them for their ads and such, but if they have a site in your niche and the writers blogs about you, you can get some great pageviews. And obviously look for the bigger independent niche ones. Once it gets going in a few, your hope should be that it's going to spread. Jenn
Best is obviously going to be the real wires like Associated Press (www.ap.org), but they're also the least likely to pick it up (free), so make sure you find the best regional office. The ones I most often use for my own and for clients aside from that and manual distribution are: www.prweb.com www.pr.com www.prleap.com www.i-newswire.com www.free-press-release.com Jenn
