I'm not posting this to be offensive in any way but I think there is a need for this type of thread. Maybe some fellow writers can offer some of the foreign writers some nice tips so they can land better jobs!

    Tips:

Don't use Regards or Revert. Ever. If I see someone asking me to revert something I don't know if they want me to play Tony Hawk games or what. This term alone will make higher paying job offers disappear. Regards usually discourages me from replying at all to that writer. Maybe I've just had bad experience with "regards" though.

Don't bid on anything using abbreviated typing. Example: I am the writer for u. Type the three letters for "you" instead of "u". It really makes a difference.

Use a spellchecker and watch your comma placement. You can probably find a friend who can look over your writing in these areas and let you know if you are placing a comma where it doesn't belong.

These are the three that stick out a lot. Again, I'm trying to be helpful here. There are many talented writers in India and these tips will hopefully help you get more work.

I agree. Also, stop using form bids on job bidding sites. They make you look like spammers.

Your second point is absolutely correct.

"Hi, I've sent you a PM with a sample. I look forward to hear from you." looks way more professional than "Im the writer for u. pm sent."

The latter is not just incorrect, it makes the person who wrote it look stupid. Hope they realize and stop doing it.

No offense but I have seen many Indian writers start their bids with the word "Sir" and while this is a sign of respect, I would like to think that I am a freelance writer who work WITH the content buyer, not FOR him. A little self-confidence won't hurt at all. :) I don't mean any harm, this is just my 2 cents.

Closing this thread. Let's not generalize and criticize geographical or cultural groups, shall we? There are plenty of crappy English language writers the whole world over, including in the US and UK. If you want to discuss common writing problems of low quality content writers, start a new thread, but don't start a thread that's discriminatory against Indians or any other group please.
