I’m new to this and started my site about 10 days ago. I'm looking for the best ideas and help to promote visitors to my site. It’s about music (actual playing of instruments and reviews of kit) When I search for ideas on Google etc... I feel that it can become overwhelming and not always what I'm looking for. I’m not a big business and primarily I want just to share info ideas with people. Eventually I might go for ad sense etc to see if I can make some pocket money but that is not my main goal. So any ideas on best way to optimize a site that is about a hobby?
Can you expand on that do you mean facebook, myspace etc... Are you allowed to post up your own website on these.
You can go with blog commenting, forums, social networking, social book marking and directory submission. Do provide appropriate link to get qaulity back link. Dont spam on blog while doing comment posting on it. Do prefer high PR directories for submission. Good luck.
Your site is very new so need a lot of promotion from starting. I suggest you keep on promoting you site more and more by building quality links to your site by only white hat SEO techniques.........and have patience. And nothin wrong in using adsense for you site but that may benefit you only if your site hve huge amount of traffic.
Most important part of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is to be on the front page of the Google results for each of your websites pages. If your first page is "how to read sheet music" then you need to be sure to get that page into the top 10 of the Google results for those terms....Google will direct the traffic to your site from there.....so.....how do you get to the front page of Google for any term? Beat out the competition.....anything under 100K is beatable and shouldn't take to much time....anything over that will take time and patience...when you first type in your words into Google like this "how to read sheet music" you will see the results near the top of the page...the first page is always false...navigate to the end of the Google pages to reveal the true number. (New Google Smackdown). 1) Article Marketing ---for every page on your site you should have an army of articles written about that page...*unique* and linked back to that page you wrote about.... 1 unique article per page for Ezinearticles and 1 unique for the other article submissions site..... This will build your one way backlinks to your site when someone picks up the article to use on their site....(articles need to be different from the website page because).....it creates duplicate content....hurting your rankings... 2) Blogging......setup a free blog on blogger.com and create a blog about your site and point links to each page....similiar to the articles .....one post per page on your site....with a one way backlink to your site.... Write the hell out of those articles and the traffic will be beating down your door.... Also make sure you have keywords for your page topics that get good search volume..... Example: If you use the Google Keyword Tool and type in the words "sheet music" under the "EXACT" method you will see XXX amount of searches monthly....look for something on that list that you can use and jot down 4/5 of them (getting 5K or more hits a month) and then head over to Google and put the "" around the "keywords" and check the competition...anything under 100K simply go back to your site and put those exact keywords as the web page title and write about that....only using those exact keywords a few times to avoid the Google spam trigger from going off...rinse and repeat until you have a mountain of highly searched keywords that you have ranked on the 1rst page of Google for. provide your visitors new content daily so that they can keep comin back to your site. promote your site to leading social networks such as facebook, twitter, plurk etc. and submit your new contents on SB sites like digg, propeller, reddit and specially stumbleupon (that can really give you traffic.)
