I have a blogger blog [GeekSip.com] and I am searching for new ways for increasing the traffic. It's 1 year old but the traffic still is too low. It get only around 500 a day. What to do?
We have the same thought! Also, try forum posting, blog commenting, social bookmarking and networking. There are still lots of ways to gain traffic. Those I've mentioned are just the common ones.
You can get traffic from Forum. The forum marketing offers some special benefits. • Backlinks: These are links on an “authority†site that go directly to your site. This is a good backlink and the more of these you can have, the better off you’re going to be. Backlinks will come from your forum signature, posts you make, and potentially your forum profile. • Traffic: Obviously if you have links to your site from an “authority†site, you should expect some traffic which will come first from the board traffic itself and then from the search engines as they crawl the forum and discover any relevant links you might have posted. • Recognition: If you can get yourself seen by the forum community as a person with good intentions, you’re going to get people who like you. Without knowing it at first, they will give what you say more weight over what someone else would say. Recognition happens when the forum members start recommending that you answer the questions presented by someone. • Expert Status: Not long after you become recognized as the go-to person for answers, you’ll become an expert. Never, ever call yourself an expert; instead, show people you’re an expert by offering intelligent solutions to their problems.
To increase your website's traffic you might consider the following items: Optimize your keywords to specifically reflect the local area that you are targeting. Listing your website in as many local directories as possible and get those local directories indexed with backlinks Verify that your business information is correct on UBL.org Create unique and informative content and post in locally hosted websites. This is really helpful if you do this correctly as you'll be getting niche/local backlinks. Take part in local forum discussions and spread the word while posting links to your website. Make sure you find out the right places to get links from. Blogging and Forum posting are some of the most powerful ways to promote your content because such links appear to be very natural to search engines. Social media will also contribute positively to your search engine rankings. Ask your customers to write a review on your Google places listing AND you can also ask them to do the same on popular local directory websites. For example, YellowPages, Yelp, Merchantcircle etc.
If your blog already has quality & informative content, you can increase your blog's traffic by trying out the following: (A) Optimizing your keywords for specific target pages (B) Listing your site on reputed web directories (eg. Dmoz) (C) Generate quality backlinks via link exchange (you might want to be careful about links from link-farms, those are useless) (D) Social Bookmarking (eg. Digg, StumbleUpon) (E) Participate in forum discussion and promoting your blog Hope this helps! Regards, Jenny
These have already been said but they're both powerful and simple: guest blogging and commenting on other blogs. There are other more technical things you can do (also mentioned) but I like to stick with simple things when I can.
I would include a link to your blog where/when you can without going against any Forum/Blog/ETC terms of service and without spamming. Consider writing articles that you can submit to article directories and such that will allow you to include the link to your blog.
Frequently updating your blog with useful content is the first step to building your blog's audience. The content you write is what will keep readers coming back for more. Make sure you have something meaningful to say to them and say it often to maintain their interest and keep them loyal.
Try getting some social bookmarks 1) Likes and Follows bring traffic from peoples friends 2) Linkedin and digg and such can help SEO as well as bringing traffic If you don't want to wait try a social exchange as they can speed up the process eg followlike.net
I think your problem is Link Building. Try Link building and it's other methods. It'll sure help you with your problem in traffic.
