Tips for getting approved in Yahoo dir for $299

I definitely would like to get my site listed in the Yahoo directory. Is there a checklist or things I should be aware of that are important to getting listed. I don't want to pay the $299 and have a slip up.

If I select an incorrect category, will the editors just move me to what they feel is a more suitable category?

    Thanks.

You shall read their submission instructions, but the true regulations are on the hand of their editors, and they will decide whether your site will be indexed or not. Anyway you still have the chance to submit free after the first rejection, so just go ahead with the submission.

I can't imagine a legitimate site getting rejected unless there is some gross infraction of their rules, or unless the site just lacks unique content. The fee really is to get to the head of the list, which can be ungodly long otherwise.

In order to get approved you need to prove you have a heartbeat :)

The $299 is an annual fee...I don't suppose Y! would want to turn down many sites and miss out on the recurring charges.

We'll see what happens. The difficulty for me was choosing an appropriate category. The site is related to a yet to be released product, so there wasn't a section for it. I of course opted for a high PR related category. In the comments sections, I explained the situation and the lack of a category for this unreleased product made the selected category the most appropriate. I'm hoping they accept it into that specific category. If not, I'll be happy with a simple acceptance. I'm on day 3 of my BOTW submission and I think I'm more nervous about those guys than Yahoo. I've seen people here at DP complain about rejections at BOTW with regularity. I don't want to be the next one complaining.

You have to have a really bad site to get rejected for the Yahoo Directory so just go ahead and submit.

I bet Yahoo! would accept a blank page. I doubt they even look at the sites.

Thanks. I just got the BOTW acceptance, so feel pretty good about Yahoo. I just get nervous when dealing with the more expensive submissions.
