Over the next few days I am going to post some tips I have discovered that have increased my stumbleupon traffic a great deal. This guide will help you get quick traffic as well as help generate long term residual traffic for your site. So, lets get started shall we? Lets start with tips for building a powerful profile. This is the foundation for long term success. How to Build a Power Stumbeupon Profile The strength of each of your StumbleUpon votes works in the same way exponential math does. StumbleUpon uses a couple of factors in its algorithm to determine the value of each stumble, but there are two main factors that users can influence. * Reciprocal Addition of Friends - Adding friends to your StumbleUpon profile increases the power of each stumble. Participate in friend exchange requests on Digital Point to build up a significant group of friends, that you can rely upon whenever you are in need of stumbles. * Personal Profile Reviews - Positive reviews of your personal Stumbler profile can reflect positively to the quality and quantity of traffic that is directed to your website or blog post. This is especially important in establishing residual traffic, which can trickle in weeks after your post has initially been stumbled. * Contact Top Stumblers - Getting in touch with the Top Stumblers in your niche can be very advantageous in driving massive amounts of traffic to your site. As your authority increases with the number of reciprocal friend additions and profile reviews, you will also find other stumblers contacting you for exchanges, as you become one among the Top Stumblers. * Provide a Stumble Button for Each Post - It’s simple to do and your readers won’t thank you enough if they’re accessing your post from a computer without the StumbleUpon toolbar. A little known feature of stumbleupon is the fact that you can not only stumble web sites, but also the profiles of fellow stumblers. When browsing for people on stumbleupon you can actually click the thumbs up icon on their actual profile which gives that person more importance. This is a great thing to do to mutual friends, and even fans of yours because overall it makes your own profile stronger. There is also the chance that the fans will do the same for you thus increasing the importance of your profile even more. I'll post more tips tomorrow. Please comment back if this helps and if you want add me as a friend, vote up my profile, and stumble my site. Profile: http://99sivtec.stumbleupon.com/ Site: http://www.tagsum.com/news
LongHaul - yes, somewhat like that. One thing with SU is that you do not gain targeted visitors. Unless you have something that has appeal to general people, your visitors won't count for nothing.
Ehab- yes thats right. But stumble upon is more known for long term traffic unlike the traffic which digg brings in which last for about 24 hours, stumble upon brings long term traffic.
Actually Digg gives me an traffic on average 3 days the longest I had was 2 weeks. But yes, traffic do slow down once you past the 12 hour mark
Yea agreed sometimes if your story is quite good then you do get traffic for days though it has a steep decrease compared to the first 12 hours but 2 weeks still remains short term. By long term i really mean long term. And stumble upon does give me long term traffic. So its better to use both digg and stumble upon.
Here are a couple lesser known tips for increasing your stumbleupon traffic. Well the first one is pretty well known, but the second one isn't so much Digital Point Stumble exchanges - This should be your first stop towards getting instant traffic to your posts. Simply start a thread or participate in an existing one to exchange a ratio of stumbles. For example, you can stumble 1:6 - meaning that for every one stumble you do for another user, he or she will return six for your posts. Authority Site Stumbling - If your post has been linked to by an authority site, stumble their post regarding yours as well and get thousands of visitors from referral traffic. I'll post more tips in the coming days. If you find these helpful add me as a stumble friend, stumble my profile, and the link I posted above
2. Wasting your friend caps limit by adding other stumblers who are not interested in stumbling any pages at all. (eg: friends exchange in DP freebies section)
I once made $285 from a night of obsessive stumbling at the freebies section. It helps to have plenty of beer.
Where did the money come from? People stumbling onto your site and clicking AdSense, or affiliate links?
