Tips for a beginner appreciated!

    Hello everyone,

I've read through several topics and posts before I decided to create this one (my first one). The majority of the posts indicate that most of you are either on the intermediate or expert level of internet marketing. To get my feet wet, I've signed up to a couple of programs to see if they would be profitable. As a beginner, my goal has been to make my initial investment back. So far, through sheer determination and research I have made 10x my investment in 2 weeks. All I have done so far is post on forums such as this one, advertise on myspace and facebook, and get some business cards made and leave them lying around here and there.

My question to everyone is simple. What are some free (or very cheap), and efficient ways to promote my website and affiliate programs over the internet. Being a beginner, my budget isn't very high.

Any tips would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

PPC (Pay Per Click) programs such as Google Adwords (the main one I use).

Basically put, you "pay per click." There are so many things to it though that can get very confusing and overwhelming. I've been part of a coaching system that teaches you how to use it as well as how to promote affiliate offers. Look at my signature for more info. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me either with a private message or AOL instant messenger (my sceen name is posted in my profile)

    GOOD LUCK!

well it appears that you have the basics down pretty good. forum marketing, social network marketing, and offline marketing are all very good methods of advertising. PPC is a another very effective way to advertise as long as you know how to do it. its not someting you can just jump into but if you know ppc then by all means give it a try. you may also want to look into article marketing. write a few articles about the problems your products fix and include a link to them, and submit to article sites.

If you're thinking ppc, don't neglect yahoo and msn's search networks.

It would help to know what your niche is, or at least what type of medium you are using...static website, landing pages, mini-sites, blog ?
In any event, I would highly suggest getting your feet wet with some article marketing and social networking so that you can take advantage of all of the free resources, before you start spending any money. It will help you to target your message and provide you with enough feedback to tweak your presentation.

If it's your first time out, you will waste money on PPC, unless you have someone helping you with experience, or already have a clear cut plan laid out.

Thanks everyone for the tips! I will look into every one of them further. If any others have something new for me to research, it would be greatly appreciated!
