I think when it comes to new hosting, instead of reading the reviews and referrals, one should simply experience the service from few selective top performing hosting providers. "You are the Best judge to understand the best suit for your requirements"

There are hundreds of hosting companies who claims to be the best and there are thousands of customers who claims satisfied and dissatisfied with the same service. The reason there is so much difference and diversity with good and bad opinion about same service is due to different requirements of different client and business. "30 days Money Back Guarantee"

Go for Free Trial and Avoide Big Hassle in Future! Now a days most of the hosting providers claims 30 days money back guarantee so simply go for two to three months free trial and find the best suit for and avoid hassle for next good few years.

    Good Luck!

Nice tips Dave :) while looking for a web host, you must consider reliability and performance as well as cost. Its very nice suggestion to go for a trial and compare results. Then you will be in a better position to decide according to your business requirements.

I usually hangs at forums and hear people reviews rather than just try a host and rely on 30 days money back guarantee. Moving site is such a hasle

You can't always rely on another persons opinion of a service/provider. You can really only judge by trying it yourself. A lot of people also have the attitude "if it's not broken, don't try to fix it". Which is understandable, but without trying other providers, how can you guarantee the service you are currently using is the best for you?

Moving a website can sometimes be a hassle, but most providers do provide you with a temporary URL, which you could use to test the service without the need of transferring your website until you are sure about the provider.

To me the best way to get some ideas of good Web Hosting is read reviews of real people who actually used/are using specific Web Hosting Services OR who reaseched other users's feedback.

I never read/trust review sites whose motivation is only sale of whoever the companies are.

For this reason This section of forum is great.

Nice post Dave and good advice. We have tried to offer similar advice in our free eBook featured in our signature.

    Re a later post comment re moving hosts;
Yes, moving hosts can be a bit of a hassle, but sometimes you can be paying far too much for hosting if you don't keep your eye on market pricing. We are amazed to regularly come across clients who have stayed with their hosts for years and as a result are still paying hundreds of dollars a year to host their sites. Either because their hosts have not moved with the market price trends or they have simply not told their existing clients that they could change over to cheaper plans.

    All the best.

Well its not a bad idea idea to look for reviews and comments of other people so that you would know what are the experiences of other people using those host. In that way, you can narrow your list of prospected host. Once you have the list, you may proceed in checking on their features and prices and you may now compare what host can meet your standards and what host suited your budget. But in addition to reviews of other people, its very nice to go for a trial and experience the service from few selective top performing hosting providers and judge the best suit for your requirements.

    Thanks for your valuable comments.

Moving sites and relying on 30 days money back guarantee could be a little hassle but again baring 1 month hassle would be any time preferable instead of dealing with customer service all year isn't it :)

    Thanks for your valuable comments.

Reviews and referrals can definitely guide you to find good service provider but that doesn't mean that the same provider will suite the best to your requirements.

    Thanks for your valuable comments.

Cost is definitely the considerable factor for every business and it is seriously an issue to find the reliable & cost effective service provider but again "Experience counts :) "

Anyways, thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts and appreciation too :)

Well sure, in a perfect world you would have all the experience you need to judge anything. We dont live in a perfect world. What I'm saying is before you even try the 30 days money back guarantee you need to look for other info i.e. other people experience. Sure you have to shift through the bullshit and make sure the reviewers dont have conflict of interest, but hey its free.

A host is a host, if I'm happy with where I'm now ( I am) why would I try something else unless you give me something I cant refused? coincidently whoahost did give me a 1 year free hosting which I'm using right now in addition to my gator. Current opinion, defo on extending.., and no, 30 days money back guarantee just dont cut it these days, EVERYONE already offer that

Thanks for such useful suggestions. It is always better to see the reviews of people who have used the service or get a trial of the service and then decide whether to take that hosting service or not.

To become more web host–oriented read independent web hosting reviews that are known to be of high quality and the most up-to-date. They contain information regarding affordable web hosting firms.
