Tip: How to make your website has Sitelinks?

Sitelinks are only shown for some searches, usually company names or other brand related searches. If your website doesn't show Sitelinks when you search for your company name or domain name then Google might not be able to parse your web page links correctly.

    a) Optimize your Flash pages

If you use a pure Flash site then it should be easy to get Sitelinks by adding a few search engine friendly navigation links to your web pages. These links should be standard text links that can easily be parsed by search engine spiders.

    b) Use a clear navigation on your web pages

If you have very many links on your web pages then it can be difficult for Google to find the best links for the Sitelinks. Google usually uses navigation links for the Sitelinks.

If your website has a clear navigation, it will be easier to get Sitelinks for your website. Do not use too many navigation links and make it easy for web surfers and search engines to find out which pages of your website are the most important pages.

The better a web page is linked, the more likely it is that it will appear in the Sitelinks.

Any Ideas on how to get sitelinks appearing for keywords, not just (your) company name?

One of my sites gets much higher traffic than a competitor, yet that competitor's site comes up with site links for a very broad keyword??

My site will show sitelinks when you search using my company name, but not any keywords.

To get sitelinks, your site need to be 1 or more years old, atleast. And the internal linking should me excellent.

I have found that it has to do completely with internal page linking. StomperNet put out this video a few months ago that detailed how to link your interal pages to your home page. It was awesome. The company that I was helping get a sitelink wanted it for the company name (a competitive keyword) and we were able to do it by doing the exact thing that StomperNet talked about. First step to getting sitelinks is to get an indented listing. Time isn't a factor, neither is traffic. It is just website structure.

Yes I followed the Stomper advice.
I have had double (indented) listings for ages, but not site links for a keyword search, only a search on company name, whereas a competitor has site links for a broad keyword.

My internal linking structure is based on (stomper) series 1 course

Site is over 2 years old

This is what I tend to notice.

Your site needs to be old, and large, with good navigation, and organized well. It must also have good PR. Only then will it have a good chance for sitelinks. This also applies for product sites, because they are the authority sites for their own products. In fact, sitelinks denote an authority site.

By old and large, it means several years with lots of high quality and interesting content.

Sites less than 2 years old will very likely not have sitelinks. I've seen new sites with sitelinks earlier this year, but seems that Google has removed them.

    Anything else, is probably conjecture.

yep. you have to be THE dominant site for that keyword. that involves being a strong #1 for a good while

Yeah, forgot this; only the number one site has any chance of getting sitelinks. But I still saw some sites demoted and lost their sitelinks, even though they were number 1 for a long time.

I would just keep doing this. Try doing this for several different pages all targeting a different keyword according to page. Then work on your backlinks to each on of those pages. Internal and External. I was able to go from indented listings to sitelinks within three months. Site also has massive amount of pages all linked properly. Site was three years old with PR3. Just got bumped up to PR4 in latest update. Was PR3 for three updates(since I started working for them)

Thanks, I'll keep building deep links. It is frustrating because my site was number one for many months, then dropped to number 2 and competitor's site became number 1 WITH site links!!
