If you have a new site your trying to get indexed and not having much luck try a couple of things...

    • Link to it from a forum signature. This has always paid off for me. However some forums will need you to contribute to the forum before allowing you to do this.
    • Get links from free directories. Submit your site to DMOZ and the other 1000s of directories out there.
    • Use Google and Yahoo sitemaps. This can often help a site to get completely indexed.

    Somethings not to do are...

    • Spam forums
    • Spam blogs
    • Spam guestbooks

Good luck with your websites.

    Hi

Congrats on the 2000...Keep the tips coming

Just like to add - the links that you get should not all point to your homepage and you need to link to your inner pages as well ;)

Try linking to your sitemap from your forum signature. I haven't tried it but it could help get a site indexed.

If you think about it you would be linking to the page that should have a static link to all pages on your site. So is should help to get the site indexed. I would try it if I had a site that wasn't fully indexed.

Good post and congrats, Gazelle! :D

I'd recommend submitting to Yahoo! via the FREE option as well (if your site qualifies). The last three sites I submitted were accepted within a week.

I should mention that I submit the sites before ads are placed on them.

    ...and they're 'non-commercial'

I've recently done this and had amazing results. New site was listed within a couple hours and immediatley deep crawled. 200+ pages indexed.

Sorry to post twice in a row, but there is a little trick to getting indexed in yahoo without having to wait for a very long time or paying. Take an RSS feed or sitemap from your site and add it to your "MyYahoo" as a feed. Yahoo will start crawling the site ;) It's worked every time I've done it, but it's been a few months since I tried last.

So they reject them if they have adsense? I better comment it out and re-submit. ;)
