Ok, so I am still a bit new to AdWords so everyone might know this already... anyway. I just found out that there are some tags that you can put in your destination url to find out more about the click. To find if the click came from a search or the content network add: type={ifsearch:AdWordsSearch}{ifcontent:AdWordsContent} To find out the keywords or keyphrase that the visitor entered into google use this: keyword={keyword} So your destination url might look like http://www.example.com/home.html?type={ifsearch:AdWordsSearch}{ifcontent:AdWordsContent}&keyword={keyword} When someone searches for stress toys and clicks your ad then the url will be: http://www.example.com/home.html?type=AdWordsSearch&keyword=stress%20toys Cool eh?
Nice find, didn't know that. But that's not something my stats package can't already work out. If it's content the ref will be googlesyndication etc. But this IS handy to separate natural listings clicks from AdWords search clicks. Thakns for sharing!
Yes, quite helpful, thanks. I've been trying to get a handle on how to track clickthroughs on affiliate links and this gives me some ideas.
