No more work for me. I just sold something at Amazon and got 28 cents. Penthouse in Manhattan and my own private jet are now within reach. Thanks Amazon! Why do I punish myself.
It is pretty hard for me to find a steady income from amazon also. No one really goes and explains how to do well since it will cut into there profits.
I'm finding summer rather slow. The key thing for me seems to be to get as many through to Amazon as possible and then let Amazon sell them something. Not like I'm making millions though...
Amazon is just something I play with. Maybe if I target bigger items. Most of my items are $5-$150ish. And 3% of that isn't much. Even in volume it takes a ton of sales just to begin to get interesting. I know. Buy your home through Amazon.
My first year was tough. Went months without selling anything. It's takes time and work to figure out what works for your site(s). Just flipping banners will get you nowhere.
Seriously, try bigger items, target for an exclusive audience and things will probably look up for you.
Hey!! I just made my first sales! $4.77. I looked up my textbooks for this semester, slapped the links and images on a forum that I created for my classmates to chat in private, saving them the time of checking their emails and entering ISBN numbers in Amazon, and actually got a few sales. Yeah!! Hope more of my classmates buy using those links!!
Each semester of college, my books ran $500-$700 easy. I always loved the ones that costed $150+. You would think Amazon would flip you a 10 spot ($10) for that. There's a huge markup on textbooks. I know of profs who actually have been yelled at for not requiring at least one text book for a class. It's a big profit center for the university.
Yeah, textbooks are a huge expense. My books this semester were the cheapest they've ever been at less than $200, but my program builds up so that I am still using books from two semesters ago this semester, which works out really well. I wish I had been an associate this entire time. I did find it interesting though that I made the $4.77 commission from one person buying used books, and there was some commission from a DVD that was added to the order. It will be interesting to see what happens if more people buy using my affiliate link.
LOL. I've spent $200 on one class before. It's fun when the class uses a new book. Oh, and when you're done, they'll buy them back for $2 and a kick in the butt.
If this was THE way you've decided to make money, I guess it would be. Amazon is just a fun tool. I think I spend $1,000 or so a month with them. I've loved them since the day they opened. It just keeps getting better. There's people here that make money with Amazon. I don't, but I don't try either. I don't want to depress you. I put up a couple links on smaller sites. I send a few hits here and there and get about a 2% buy rate. Most of the stuff is small crap ($20 or less). However, I'm currently messing around Amazon's site and looking for something high priced to sell as a fun challenge.
A good resource for Amazon.com sales info is EcommerceforEveryone.com. I know the guy who runs it and they are still really new... I think that they just launched or will launch soon but the owner makes about $400/month on each of his own personal Amazon storefronts. May be worth a looksey. Hope this helps.
