I have a proprietary cms system made for me on one of my sites and I don't think I'll be able to port the content over to wordpress. So I was just going to do the copy and paste route, but I don't want to do that if I can't change the date on my posts. Is it possible to set a post date in the past? Thanks in advance
Of course you can. Are you manually entering the posts? Just expand Post Time stamp on /wp-admin/post.php It is on the right hand side and choose the date.
Yes you can change the post date, on the right hand side on the write page of wordpress is the option for Post Timestamp change this to the one you want.
Ahhh. Interesting. . . I never thought about backfilling a blog to make it appear as though it is older then it is. I understand that you're doing it becuse you've got the posts already from another site, but it is an interesting thing to think about. I'm not sure that there is any real benefit for someone who might want to make their site look older. People read new blogs and keep coming back, provided it is full of quality content.
