What is your experience with Google?
How long does it take after the googlebot visited a page until the contents of this page are updated in the Google cache?
Do they update the cache after each googlebot visit?

in my experience I can normally expect to see the changes in google 2 days after it has been changed so if I edited something today 28th, I woulden't expect it to be cached until the 30th, you can instantly tell if the result is fresh as it will display the date under the listing!

    Thanks.
Your answer is not quite what I expected.
I wanted to know the time lag between the googleBot and the cache update. In your case we have (at least) two alternatives:

    (1) googleBot visits your site several times a day and the caches is updated approx. 2 days after that.

    or

    (2) googleBot visits your site two days after the changes are made and the cache is updated immediately. In this case the time lag was 0.

I guess the truth is somewhere between (1) and (2). Where?

    it varies for me.
Google appears to crawl my site almost everyday but only updates the cache per three days by my estimation.

I was totally surprised when Google visited my new subdomain and had the homepage indexed with cache in less than a day (put up the subdomain in the night, and by the next morning it was perfectly indexed).

But now I am waiting for the hundreds of inner pages to get crawled. No activity yet.

sorry for not being clearer with my response... this is for a page that googlebot visits that day, so time lag from crawl to update in SERP = 2 days after the crawl, hope this clear it up for you.

Well I've noticed a big change in the last week. Previously I was editing or creating new pages and within 24 hours they were cached and ranking on G. I designed a new page last Saturday and it's not yet indexed... my gut feeling is that something is afoot! :)

Now PHP pages have always taken longer to re-cache

I have done a redesign and renamed all my client's pages, http://www.groteapproach.com, and the new home page has been cached by Google but all other pages are still the old ones that no longer exist. The home page has been visited by the Googlebot but it won't follow to the interior pages and index the new ones. Any ideas?

Don't just point links to the homepage, point them to the internal pages aswell - G seems to be slower IMO on indexing new pages lately, not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

I pointed to the sitemap page and sure enough it showed up the next day. I guess I'll just point to a few new pages every day. Good thing the site is only about 30 pages.

Google seems to visit my main site every ten days, except every fifth week when it takes 14 days! This pattern has repeated for a number of months. It then takes 2-3 days for new pages to appear in the SERPS depending on which google server.
