I have been working on a new website the profiles RV Parks and Campgrounds in the US and Canada. Most of the bugs and format have been worked through. Now it is time to throw it to the wolves and get some honest opinions. Please review and let me know where I can improve. One issue I am working on is speed. It needs to load faster than it currently is and I am improving the actual content in the the individual campground listing. Thank you in advance to taking a second to review it. http://5starcampsites.com
For a new site i would always recommend having very few if any adverts. Having them there will not make you money while your traffic is low. Being without them will lead to a better browsing experience for your early users. And you dont want to take people away from your page. Put your `recent additions` in the right had sidebar. its useless waaaaaay down there at the bottom of the page. When looking at a parks info, the fancy image gallery certainly looks sexy but is basically useless. Just list each of the pics and let people see them all at once. Style should never be put over substance! They want pics not fancy transitions and sitting waiting for the pics to all cycle through. When looking at a parks page, the right sidebar is a complete mess in Internet Explorer 7. There is text peeking out from around and under the adverts. With a name like 5 star campsites, do you only cover 5 star campsites? Do you add details for 2 star campsites? This really isnt clear and you may be putting off potential users who just want basic campsites.
Thank you for the comments so far. I will take them under serious consideration. Actually I was already ponder changing a couple of items that were suggested. Sometimes it is difficult to design a site for the people and not myself. Keep the suggestions coming!
