    Hi guys,

I'm about to embark on a bit of a journey. Up till now I have always created pretty much static sites - i want to learn how these joomla sites work.

i have installed joomla and am ready to go! I have downloaded the joomla hand book and am about to start reading it.

how long will it take for me to pick up how the whole thing work - ie creating templates, understanding how the modules work etc?

Any other info I should know?

    Cheers

Well, I'm working with joomla for a year now. Although I'm not an expert, I would say that you'll spend a week or two to get an expertize for an intermidiate looking site. There is a mountain of extensions, mambots....

But then it depends on which type of site you want to build. AS for templates I would suggest joining a few available clubs where you can get quality templates.

Try this one: www.rockettheme.com. I joined few months ago and I must say this guy is remarkable.

In projects I was involved so far SEO wasn't of great consequence. I would like to know how good can Joomla perform in terms of SERP.

I know that Taerabite suggest using Drupal, but then comparing to Joomla other features... well judge it for yourself...
