How soon can you see that someone has been at your site with google analytics? Is it the next day, or just a few minutes?

    Thanks

It usually updates in the hours if not the next day as it displays results on a daily stature.

I've worked extensively with analytics over the years and have noticed that typically you get the best results for data from a certain day on the following day. The same goes for Youtube insight.

You can rely on the data being 24 hours behind. They actually update more frequently than that from what I've seen. Usually you can get data that is around 3 - 4 hours old, but that is not reliable. This is why by default the date selection only includes through yesterday. You can select to get today's data, but it can't be guaranteed accurate or timely.
