For email client software, which one do you prefer? Microsoft Outlook or Firefox Thunderbird???
I had been using Microsoft Outlook until now and today, I tried Thunderbird and I love it.

Hands down - Thunderbird. There's really no comparison.

I've been using outlook for years; is thunderbird really better, or is it just "better" because it's not by Microsoft?

I'm wondering the same. If there's a way to get Thunderbird to work with Hotmail, I'd go for it.

I used to use thunderbird, then my computer messed up one day and it stopped working...tried everything (even a complete OS reinstall) and it still didn't work...so i was forced to go to outlook...

now that I have a new computer, and you have just reminded me again about thunderbird...i think i'll have to install it again when i get home to see which i like better nowadays

Turns out that if you install the webmail extension to Thunderbird, you can access those web based emails.

In all truth, Outlook and Thunderbird basic forms are very similar and operate in much the same way. The real difference is in the extensions and plugins.

As anybody used the Thunderbird feature where you can train the software to recognize spam???
How good is it??? I am a bit sceptical about turning on turning on that feature.

Without question thunderbird. Outlook is slow and bulky and a huge memory suck. Thunderbird can handle multiple accounts in a way that outlook cannot and .PST files are a joke. I would highly recommend.

Junk mail filtering doesn't work very well. It led to a lot of false positives. But its safe to try as it just files away anything it thinks is junk mail. It won't delete it unless you tell it to.

Thunderbird, Outlook just locks up, crashes and gives you corrupt email files when you're handling huge amounts of email.

Using ThunderBird for long time, I did not like their junk mail control feature. It's not working well for me.

I never try any email client before this, just used webmail. But after thunderbird came out and have a test on it.... I will stick to thunderbird forever. Unless something better is coming out. :D
