Throttled in the face

    quick intro-
The site (www.communitynewspapers.com) was launched early august. It gets around 2,000 search visits and 4500 search pageviews a week. 40% of its traffic comes from search engines. Theres 800 original and unique posts on the site so far and that number increases 10 to 15 per business day.

Were with bluehost now and wow the site is slow. Taking sometimes three seconds for the homepage to load. I checked it on different computers in different zips with different hosts and it was consistently slow. Tried super cache but ended up conflicting with google analytics for some reason. I got in touch with bluehost and discovered what cpu throttling is. Turns out there was 57899.99 seconds of throttling. Damn near 16 hours of slow hosting. We hit 40,000 pageviews in the last thirty days so this is going to be an even bigger problem pretty soon. Bluehost said they dont offer a package that can speed up the site.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to move forward?

Time to move to VPS dude.

Or you can try other shared hosting company that use core i7 CPU.

I think you need to contact your web hosting company and ask them what to do. I'm certain they will recommend you VPS

I've been looking around a read about cacheing widgets. WP Super Cache, Quick Cache, etc. Supposedly they relieve some of the server load and this should stop the site from being throttled. I installed quick cache earlier this morning.

Ugh. Its still being throttled around ALL of the time. Quick cache appears at the bottom of the page source so it is working but its not reducing the throttling

Im sure the 75 widgets were running is causing a problem. But Im not sure how to restrict the widgets per category (like the money widgets only appear in the money category). Were using a plugin called dynamic widgets. Not sure if that helps though.

I just spoke with bluehost and they don't offer vps. Arggggg
