hello, I'm using a three way linking tool, from iCrawl.net I was wondering what everyone thinks about Three Way Linking Vs Reciprocal linking. Personally i have been performing well with a site that has 1000+ recirpocal links, however that has now slumped in the search results. While a newer website that is only 4 months old, is now in top 40 results for the same search terms i used with my old site. This site has 210 links and 85% of these are one way, made through a three way link exchange. My previous site, is now like 300+ results down the page, while the one way links have pushed me into the top 40 with only 210 incoming links ! Anyone else see that there reciprocal linking is not working anymore?
Reciprocal linking still works just fine. There are ways of manipulating 3 ways links that have certain benefits, but as far as I'm concerned, all the hooplah about reciprocal links being penalized or somehow worth less is just silly.
I have seen that precise behaviour occur with one of my clients in Google, who exchanges links with a lot of other sites in his "industry" (weddings). It never affected him until Jagger, and it's only just seemed to straighten itself during the BigDaddy update as I had run an extensive IBL campaign for him. The way I look at it, I'd rather have an IBL than a reciprocal link for one simple reason: why direct people to leave your site, unless there's something of use to them? Personally, I see 3-way/network linking being one of the things that gets nailed this year in an update. In particular, I see network farming (sites linked together in a network by one common owner) getting nailed as the engines use IP addresses, whois lookups, and other techniques to determine who's playing this little game.
What I wonder is how are "one way" links from 3/4 way linking schemes treated if they are detected. Does Google count them as reciprocal, or do the sites participating in such schemes get penalized? For example you have 5 sites that you use to build one way links to your most important site, what would be the effect to the 5 sites and to the site that gets the one ways? Sure this should not hurt the main site as it would be easy to harm your competitors with such schemes. But then again blog spam too theoritically should not get your site banned while in reality it's quite the opposite.
Hi Larz_31, Just wondering, whats your throughts on iCrawl? Do you think its a good tool to use. Are you receiving quality one way links to your site? Thanks
Reciprocal links are classical and they've proved to be very effective. 3 (or more) links whatever positive results they seem to give, appear somewhat ethereal and thus, not worthwhile. I don't bet on them. Though, it's just my personal opinion.
well, I have 2 new sites that I'm doing seo for. as far seo goes, one is for 1 receiving reciprocal links and 2 I use it to try to get one way links to the second site. the second has no outbound links (only internal links), only incoming one way links. time will tell what the results are
