was so shocked and saddened to hear on the news this morning of the three boys in belfast who committed suicide, allegedly as part of a suicide pact inspired by websites they had visited on the net. am not convinced that any website could be that persuasive, though of course adolescents are notoriously easy to coerce. are our children really in danger of being brainwashed to this extent by certain websites? as a mother i feel that this must be investigated further. one of the mother's of the boys in belfast said that parents should always check what their children are doing on the internet or mobile phones, but i think that many teenagers would not allow this to happen or just go to a friends house to use the net if they felt that they were being watched. any views on this?
sorry, cannot provide link, but you can probably see the news item on either bbc news website or gmtv.
