Hi, 12 months ago my client asked me to place three different ads with differently branded LP's in the Top 10 of Google/Overture/Miva.. 12 months ago things were a lot cheaper in PPC and over the last 6 months via the reporting sections of the engines I know which ones of our 3 versions of 1000+ keywords work well in terms of Cost per Lead etc...and which don't.. I still have the client panicking because they want to 'see' three ads in the top 10..and no matter what figures I have to hand there's still got to be three ones up there.. I disagree, now, and with hindsight I was new with the client so originally agreed to do it.. 1) It has to be more expensive, its a self fulfilling prophecy, i make it more expensive for everyone else, including my other ads 2) i don't agree with it anyway ethically/professionally/TOS-wise, but alls far in love/war/business right, according to the client? 3) its a pain to manage , even via auto ppc bid management.. 4) if your LP is good enough, surely one LP is all you need. There must be other disadvantages and I know I am going to get flamed for this but please give me constructive criticism so hopefully I can change their mind. The current status quo is that I have 1 or at most 2 ads running per keyword and I personally am all for this. Just need some back up from you guys.
I can't backup such a disgraceful act...It's a shame you even mentioned it. "No one refuses to the client's wish"
If you are set up with a master account on Google and are doing this you could be banned from adwords. Not sure catering to a single clients wishes is worth that, but it is only for you to decide. Certainly a lot of people do that, but since they are putting you out front, make sure they have all the liability and you are not left to be hung out and dry.
