Threatened DDoS Attack

Okay. I run a website, nothing special, makes me a few bucks but I do it for the joy.

I am having trouble with a user. Said user was temporarily banned from the site for this reason and that and threatened a DDoS attack. Now, he is a kid, and I think sending him some sort of legal documentation would easily defer him from thinking about doing anything remotely like an attack on my site.

    A) Would a cease and desist order work? E.g. "Cease and Desist using my site" or something to that effect

B ) do I need to go further?

If I do, I won't pursue it. If I can send a simple C&D letter/email, I'll go ahead and do it to spook the kid and hopefully he quits whatever he is thinking of doing.

If you know his contact details, send a letter to his parents. If he does start a DDoS attack on your website then you should take it furthur as it means he has access to a botnet which is illegal to start with.

You should have nothing to worry about, its just some kid. I bet he doesn't even know how to DDoS. Tell him to have fun trying to DDoS it, if in case he does actaully know how to DDoS, just email him saying that you taking legal action and he should stop. If he doesn't then take legal action. You know, you can always trace his IP Address.
