    Hi There

I wanted to create a thread on how to spot an unreliable webhost and I was wondering whether it would be better suited in the hosting forums or the General Discussions.

    Thanks :)

The Web Hosting forum is aimed at the sale of hosting whereas General Chat is pretty much for anything, If you put it in General Chat it will get much more exposure and you're much less likely to get into trouble for putting it in the wrong place.

Or even site and server administration.

General chat would be best though

You have to start that thread in General Chat section IMO.

BTW information to spot an unreliable webhost is really helpful to other members.

    DON.

But you would think Web Hosting would be better right? As not all people go to general chat before searching for hosting ;)

Oh well, I'll listen to you guys and put it in General chat. Thanks

Um... OK but I have never even been in that forum let alone searched it for how to spot an unreliable webhost.... So it shows that most people searching for hosting probably wouldn't either

Maybe I'll give the idea a miss.

    Thanks guys ;)

Fair enough. You could always post at webhostingtalk.com - that'd be a good place.

Just make sure you keep an average topic out of the BST here, you'll get an infraction if you do post it there.

I really wanted to post it here to stop the HUGE amount of scams/failed hosting companies in the hosting area here

    Namely:
    • HostParlor
    • HostGod
    • SellWHM

They don't have any of that at WHT because they don't allow unlimited ;)

Whatever you decide, keep it out of BST as it's not really for general discussions. I would go for general chat and see how it pans out.

Put it in your blog and advertise it everywhere via your blog link?

I think you can do in general section. if your thread is good enough, I think the mod will moved and make it sticky in hosting section. also we can help ask mod to sticky it if it's good enough. :p there are so many scammed hostings right now in hosting section. i think it's good idea.
