Thousands on backlinks. How????

I have noticed that on competitive keywords top sites have like 30 000 links
i really can't get it how does those webmasters does that.
Could you tell me how do they get them?

Some might be giving away successful scripts and templates.
Others cheat through automation.

Hopefully, things are changing and the back-link BS will no longer work as well in the future. This way people will focus on quality content.

 

Lots of those would be sitewide links from large dynamically generated sites.

For example if I had a product catalog database with 100 000 widgets it would be easy to build a site with an automated page for each of those widgets and the template could include outbound links on each of those pages. Another example would be spam blogs with syndicated content, it would take them no time to generate thousands of pages (not that they would carry much SE weight)

In other words those 30 000 links might only come from 20 different sites.

 

They also build them over the years with quality content that gets linked to a lot.

 

I think because longterm running, good quality content and SEO friendly also.

 

Aye, peeps already got it down. I've seen websites with over 1/2 million backlinks. I think backlinks take on a snowball effect once when they start coming in. A GOOD quality site will get natural backlinks and keep rolling and collecitng more and more (ex: YouTube) until they have so many anchored links they conquer all. Links take time and a lot of people seem to expect them to happen overnight. Anyway, the site-wide link is a big thing as someone else mentioned. Website with thousands of indexed pages == thousands of links!

 

you can use the yahoo linkdomain feature to view them. in the yahoo search field type: linkdomain[:]http[:]//www[dot]example[dot]com all one word. google also has this feature but yahoo is more accurate.

and because they are displayed in link format you can go on and submit your site if its a directory

My sites seem to add a few hundred links a month and the more people that visit the more I get additional links and comments about my stories. Just make sure you're posting stuff that people are interested in and give it a little nudge in the communities that have people who would be interested. Its a slow start but I think if the content as good it builds momentum.

 

It takes monhts before you can get thousands of backlinks. For now, continue to submit your site in directories, forum posting with sig.

 

Forum posting is really good but i haven't seen any positive results when it comes to directories, i mean free directories

 

Make Website with quality and interesting content (it may be scripts, templates, stories etc.) and users will make backlinks to Your website.

well sorry but you havnt done enough.. i have owned a site for 3 months and i have 500 backlinks from free directories through working hard everyday

I think he/she did a viral marketing concept. They must be interesting free stuffs, good articles, or nice css design.

 

A lot of article writing is a great way to get thousands of backlinks in a quick period if done properly. A good article does something very interesting called "natural propagation". When you submit an article to a article site and someone likes it, they then reprint it in their own sites and tend to keep the links within the article attached. So, now you have 2 articles.

If you pubilsh a good number of quality articles each month, then you've got a great opportunity to raise your backlinks naturally and hassle-free. The argument of duplicate content can come in to the discussion at this point, but the fact is your links are out there lodged within a good article that attracts readers...so who cares about duplicate content if you're attracting visitors to your site.

besides, anything that is printed online will get duplicated. When trying to understand how to make it to the top in search engines, I think we need as webmasters to start seeing the basic picture of how it all works, instead of getting all clogged up in weird algebra.
