So, xF 1.2 has been available as a public beta for a few weeks now - what do you all think about it? Personally, I believe it is a very good software, with loads of good new features But what do you think? Liam
Is DP running on 1.2 yet Shawn? Or is it still a waiting game on gold for "responsive"? If I am not mistaken or just imagining things DP pages seem to be loading just a little quicker these days since change over. So nearly time to put my VB 4 licence up for sale me thinks...
How much custom stuff do you actually have? In other words, how many xF files have the same checksum as the originals, and how many templates haven't been modified? Also, how many addons do you have installed that you'll have to make 1.2 compatible...?
Everything custom on the site was built by me. Big things... A search engine/spider: https://tools.digitalpoint.com/cookie-search World's biggest historical search engine ranking monitor: https://tools.digitalpoint.com/tracker Marketplace: https://marketplace.digitalpoint.com/ Advertising platform: https://advertising.digitalpoint.com/ etc... We have 53 installed addons we built for various things... some is just a matter of removing them since 1.2 has the functionality now (for example post edit history, ability to edit thread titles, etc).
Ah, makes sense. One thing I did notice is that post history on this site is public... Will you be modifying the 1.2 system to make this the case, or is this actually a bug? (I keep on going to like posts but can't...)
It's intentional, and yeah... going to need to make some changes to the post edit history in 1.2... permissions based, record IP, etc.
Very nice. Using this site on my phone is nigh on impossible Also, I'm looking forward to the new editor. I forgot how badly TinyMCE runs on xenForo...
I'm using 1.2 on a private forum and i must say, it's quite nice. The mobile responsive thing is stunning.
I'm using it on my live forum as well, and I agree. The responsive style makes using it on my phone a breeze, and I've got used to the new editor so much that I really like it (there's also the fact that the new editor blends in really well with my site's colour scheme). 1.2 is a big milestone for xenForo - I'm looking forward to what 1.3 will be like
We jumped the gun too and converted to 1.2 on my gaming site, beta's on XenForo are nothing compared to other software heh. I'm glad to see the fast development pace back for XF and hope it continues to the foreseeable future.
Yeah, I wouldn't call an xF beta a beta at all - they just seem so stable compared to other beta software...
Ah, the gang's all here. I'm just hoping that the add-on creators will catch up now. Waiting on a few more things to get the bugs ironed out before I put the pedal to the metal with my forum.
Chris' Media Gallery/User Photo Album Sportsbook to be 1.2 compatible Soft and Black Responsive themes to get the kinks worked out A few other things that I've heard are in the works And, if its humanly possible, I'd LOVE to find someone to develop SlickDeals' in-thread wiki system for me. But that seems like a pipe dream at this point.
So many great new features, much faster and generally awesome. Both my two forums are on 1.2. Great to see DigitalPoint on 1.2 as well!
