I know alot of directories attach an advertisement at the bottom of their email templates, does anyone buy or sell these regularly? Also how many people you think actually look at them?
Im not sure about buying and selling but i can confirm that i often take notice of the links and often click on them and quickly check them out.
It could work. I have owned free directories that get around 300 submissions a day. Some people submit several times, so thats around 240 possible people to target. If 20% of the submitters click the link in the email, thats 48 unique visitors a day to other sites. Could be useful
I know i just never see people selling the advertisement space in their emails here. Unless im just missing it.
It seems like a good idea, used in what way i am not sure in that it could be used to promote your sponsered links for example as an added bonus to those sponsering your site. Value adding to thier sponsership.
i absolutely agree with this! i also have a free web directory that get's huge submissions daily! I guess advertising on these templates is a very good idea, but this idea will only work with free directories
Actually, with paid directories you are getting a more targeted audience... someone ready to spend money on a listing... If you are promoting another paid directory in the email template, you might get some good results .
The audience is more of less the same, as those that submit to the paid ones, also submit on the free ones! but the ammount matters. on some days i get over 500+ submission, a paid directory can never get such amount of submissions!! Anyways, i do agree that if a reputed paid directory recomends any other paid directory, they submitters will surely consider! But yes, when we talk of advertisement, we do not necessarily refer to directory advertisements only
History has taught us the targeted marketing always wins vs non. If you have a free directory and other free directories want to advertise in your email. It is a good idea. <--targeted Same goes for paid directories just vice-versa. I can speak from experience on this issue, but not necessarily the majority. It worked on me, lol.
i agree with this..i have yet to try this type of promotions, but will attempt it and see if there are any results
This is essential especially if your php mail server can handle the HTML text of a particular ad or even parsing links to products and services.
