Thoughts on Adsense leeching away Affiliate Sales

What do you people think about Adsense leeching away your potential affiliate sales via Adsense ads? I have an entertainment site, and the vast majority of my affiliate sales are movie-related. As such, a lot of my Adsense ads are online etailers advertising movies for sale. Most of the time it's the same movie I'm linking to my primary affiliates for commission.

I've considered filtering out all the etailer competitors, but it doesn't seem practical, as for every 10 I filter out, 10 more etailer ads take their place advertising the sale of the same product I'm linking. Since I'm guaranteed 10% of all sales via my affiliates, and Adsense pays me, for the most part, an average of .10-.20 cents a pop, I'm thinking I might be losing out.

    Any thoughts on this?

you probably need to test your website 10 days with adsense and 10 days without adsense and see what works better.

The difference is Adsense is Pay Per Click Thru, and Affiliate is Pay Per Sale, although the numbers might have drastic differences.

A click might generate 10 cents, whereas a sale may generate $10. At the same time, there might be only 4 sales or there may be 500 clicks. So all really depends. Do some tetsing with both types, and see what gives better return, and do that.

Some of my websites work better with adsense, some without adsense. Differs from industry to industry, different from the location of adsense, location of affiliate ads, and several other factors.

    Good Luck.

I'm going to do that. Take my ADsense off my main site for a couple of days and see if my main affiliate earnings go up. Let's see what happens...

Ive looked into this before, adsense can be usefull to compliment your affiliate income, there are lots of websites using adsense aswell as doing affiliate sales, depending on where you put the ads (layout, pages etc) you may not notice a decrease in affiliate sales, its possible the majority of people clicking on your adsense ads are people who wish to leave your site.
