Thoughts Before Having Children

So what is the most evil thing you can do to someone?

I could name a few evil things you could do but the events wouldn't occur had the person not existed in the first place, so I came to the conclusion that the most evil thing you could ever do to someone is give them life and bring them into existence?

If you decided to have children, you and your partner would be solely responsible for the suffering that person experienced throughout their lifetime. That makes you both selfish people does it not?

Apart from adding to the problem of over-population, you are falling for the age-old idea that you MUST find a life partner, you MUST get married and you MUST have children. Already the first two are fizzling out of existence. As time goes on, divorce numbers are through the roof and relationship lengths are plummeting. It's only a matter of time before having kids will be a privilege for those who are physically and financially sound.

If you have a family, or are thinking about it, I would love to know what you think of these ideas.

Yes I agree... YOU shouldn't have kids... that would be plain torture! I'd feel horrid for em' kids

Aside from the fact that you may be socially challenged, I pray you are impotent

On the other hand, if you decide to have children, you are and your partner are responsible for all the happiness, love and joy that that person will experience and give to others.....

i guess that depends on where you live. maybe in some 3rd world over populated countries, it would be a burden to existing over population, but in Canada people are encouraged to have chindren. government even pays the parents and covers the cost of raising the children.

each parent in Canada gets $100 per month in Universal Child Care Benefit per child between the age of 0-6 years

parents with low inclome gets Child Tax Benefit which pays as much as $400-$500 per month per child based on income. high income families dont get that benefit tho

(1 USD = 1.09 CAD so pretty much same conversion rate)

some people coming to Canada form poor countries are in full time job of breeding children as the money they get in child care and child tax benefit for 3-4 children helps them out a lot.

I see your point of view, because I do think similar. At least, I feel responsible and some kind of quilty for the future sufferings and problems of of my daughter's life.

Having children is indeed a great responsibility. Many are totally unqualified for the job, some do not even know how they became parents. As a High School teacher I have seen the terrible results of such appalling carelessness, ignorance and neglect. The consequences on the lives of those children is even more terrible than the effects of war or being a refugee. Kids need to feel loved, safe and cherished. They can survive most things if they know they are loved and wanted.

if you don't have a family and kids where does your happiness come from ?
when you are old you think that you haven't lived for nothing, you left something behind you, and that something are your kids
i hate the thought that i'll grow old and alone. don't you ?

I am surprised at the kind of thought process some people develop! Life is all about loving, caring and sharing. All these qualities have come to a human being after years of evolution and after years of refinement, he has become a social animal.
OP seems determined to negate all of it in a single go and go back to becoming a wild animal...I guess! :(

For his information, I have a soul mate and two wonderful children and my life is dedicated to making their life beautiful. Without them, I cannot just imagine my life, to be so peaceful and happy!

    Regards,
