Hey folks, Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here I go. I am looking to buy a new HD video camera with still picture taking capability. This camera will be used for person uses and for recording HD web videos. I have been looking at the gopro.com camera, don't really need all the sports crap. But it seems to be a solid camera. Budget is approx $250. I would appreciate any feedback and or suggestions.
Try the Canon SD 780 IS, looks like a decent camera, and it's under your budget. Search on youtube for some sample clips, too
The main advantages of the GoPro HD are 60fps, the tiny size, durability, and its (lack of) weight. It takes noisy stills and isn't very good in low light. I've got a GoPro HD that I use on my RC planes, and occasionally for real estate walk throughs. For RC aerial video, nothing comes close to a GoPro HD. For indoor/real estate use, it's great as long as there is plenty of light. It's also great for time lapse stuff. BUT... If you're looking for an HD camera for "general use", then the GoPro probably isn't it.
