Thoughts about an SEO contest

Hi All,

I'm after a little feedback on a possible SEO contest.

Would people be interested in a competition where we will make up a keyword that doesn't appear in any search engines and register the domain names for a number of different country TLD's.

eg

abcdef.fr
abcdef.it
abcdef.ws

etc

Each entrant could then choose their own TLD, provided it isn't already taken.

We'll give a theme that would be easy to write a little content about and should ideally be based on that country that the TLD belongs to. We haven't chosen a specific theme yet but it would be very simple one such as the national flag or the capital city etc of the country that the TLD belongs to.

A prize would be given for the person ranked top of Google (probably .com or maybe .co.uk) after say three months or possibly even a monthly prize. Also we may look at it for Yahoo and MSN too.

To make things as level as possible the .com and .co.uk domains will either not be used or used by us to show how people are getting on and will be discounted from any rankings.

The seo used should be white hat only.

Would anyone be interested in this?

What kind of prize money would be needed to get a number of people involved?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

That kind of amount isn't out of the question and isn't far from what we were thinking/hoping. Would people prefer a monthly prize compared to a three month one?

 

the carcasherdotcom contest has monthly prizes. I wouldnt think right now would be a good time for an SEO contest. the v7n contest just ended and there are a couple other ones going on right now. Might me better to wait a while.

IMO, people are getting tired of the contests - i know i am.

 

Thanks for your thoughts guys. We'll continue to have a ponder on this and see if there's a way take it forward and make it work.

One of the issues I can see is there are only a limited number of tld's out there compared to the number of people who seem to of entered that competition in the Philipines
