It's Burj Dubai and it is beeing built in the UAE(United Arab Emirates). It will reach 189 floors and a height over 800m(or 2625 feets). And this is how it will look when its done in 2008..
Even Michael Jackson went to see it being built. This building is going to be so tall they expect high altitude spiders at the top. Also they are going to have air locks due to difference in air pressure.
Well, I admit I have no idea where or what Dubai is but the various terrorist groups seem to be happily blowing each other up all over the Middle East... and with something that big, I can see it being blown up even if they're aiming for something else.
Yes it does appear to be a juicy target. Just like a hunter would gladly take down the biggest deer, even if it's possibly not in their favorite spot. 'ok bad analogy, but I do get what Ministrel is saying, looks like the 'prize' in destruction in one shot'
What is a high altitude spider? I have the elevation of dubai at about 50 feet so the top will be about 2700 feet, it's not that high and the pressure difference is not that great.
UAE is one of the more normalized muslim countries, I believe. It only exists because the biggest repository of natural gas and oil that sits underneath it. If you read up on world events today, you can see that we are really still fighting WWI - problems created at the end of WWI are still being settled today. Its nuts. If you take, Iraq, for instance. It is made up of 3-4 tribes that have historically (since the beginning of time) hated each other and killed each other. Britain (or the League of Nations, I forget) whips together Iraq (one country) - made from these tribes and its expected to co-exist as a singular nation. Most countries over there are like that.
WTH? Did Shawn just install a new captilaztion mod? That's not what I typed (I used caps) and when I edited it it turned it back into mixed case... And while we're at it, Shawn, I'm still seeing that strange URL after a popup redirects me to the main index page: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/./
