We just had another toolbar PR change. We have just updated the PageRank on Web-Directories.ws

A bunch of sites went up :D
A bunch of sites went down
    Most stayed the same :)

    Of note
http://www.technorati.com/ went from something like PR8 to PR0. I wonder if it will be reinstated.

Looks like some manual changes are involved. Any other interesting changes?

    Google Directory >> A COPYCAT >> Shamelessly at PR8

Any more evidence needed to prove how crap this PR value now is?

I've noticed your site ranks first for "web directories"

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=web+directories&btnG=Search

This is even bigger than the number of directories listed!

Many congrats for that! A valuable resource.

And why is that? Do you think people look at PR before using technorati?

Most surfers still use IE6 and have no idea what sponsored ads are. Some even think that adsense ads are businesses recommended by google. Do you expect them to know what PR is or even care?

    PS: PR IS BS

The issue is whether Google treats everyone the same. Do they treat the big guys the same as the little guys even if there is potential for some really bad press.

Please, this has been proven before with the whole BMW fiasco. Google is biased.

My question is; what exactly is google without all of their paid for advertising? Where exactly would they stand without it? How much would that stock be worth then...

Do you think your http://www.best-web-directories.com/ would have dropped from a PR5 to a PR0 if you were BMWesk ?

Do you think your http://www.cbravo.com/ would have dropped from a PR5 to a PR0 if you were BMWesk ?

Im sure you knew the answer to your question prior to referring to it.

Boy. People are sure getting edgy on this forum. It's like stepping on pins and needles.

I was just explaining the issue for the previous poster. I am not aware of the BMW details. Do we have to be experts or Mensa members to make posts on DP now?

I remember BMW did some crap on their sites...doorways stuff if I remember well. They've been penalised by uncle G, applied for a reinclusion (with some brand new BMW's perhaps) and google was more than happy to reinstate them...

is that what you talking about?

    Mensa, with a PhD. :D

Yeah, things seem a little edgy. And since I have neither a PhD or a Mensa card, I think this will have to be my last post. ;)

To get back on topic, thanks for the update/list. I'll keep your site in mind for my future projects!

Thanks for your great work !
Maybe duplicate contents is not a problem, paid links is a problem . Google only allows you to boost your site by adwords. :(

Google is also going after big time on open source development sites who give out links to sites of their donors to say thanks

    phpnuke.org - down from PR8->5
    linux.org was PR9 before Oct -now PR5
    phpbb.com was PR9 before Oct- now PR5

So- its not only going after directories or blogs. Its going after all sites ho violates its TOS.

    Besides thanks for updating.:)
