This site seems to not enforce its rules, and enjoy causing misery to people

    Recently a post was discovered that was making person attacks on me;

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1264782

After being deeply offended and hurt by the untrue remarks, I contacted the forum moderators, the poster, and a solicitor.

I pointed the moderator’s attention to the rules section of this forum, in particular, the rule that states

"Personal attacks against people or sites will not be tolerated. If you have an issue with someone or their site, take it up with them personally."

Although the thread was stopped, it was still left on the forum, even though it is clear these statements are not even confirmed as true by the poster. The attack was tolerated as it was left on the forum and the poster was not reprimanded.

My solicitor advised I talk to the poster, and get them to remove it. I have spoken to the poster, they have apologised, acknowledged what they said about me was untrue, and what they said about a company I am affiliated with is also untrue, and agreed to contact the forum to get the posts removed. I told them, if the posts are not removed, myself, and company concerned will be taking the poster to court for libel and defamation.

With all this information and a request from the poster (if the information they have told me is correct), this forum still refuses to remove the post, even though the poster has requested it to be removed, or at least my name and company name im affiliated with be removed.

By leaving this post up, this forum is pushing myself, the poster and company concerned into a long drawn out legal battle.

All parties concerned just want the posts removed, so we can get on with our lives.

The post made about me are damaging my reputation, and ruining relationships with my clients, thus putting my job in question.

Why would any forum want to do this? What is there to be gained by leaving it up except for misery? And as the poster is the owner of the content, why is their request to remove it being denied?

To reiterate our policies as given in our FAQ for all members to read and reread

    Policies
There are a couple things we do not do here. We do not edit/delete posts from a member simply because a different member does not like it and we do not resolve disputes between members.

Users are allowed a single account/username, and multiple accounts will result in all of them being banned.

    Hello,

The following thread was started by us and locked by a moderator:

    forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1264782

I would like to request that the thread be deleted. It was unfortunately hijacked by a defamatory post from a 1-time user, it is no longer productive and appears in search results. We can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the user "fitz72" was never a customer of ours, and that this user's claims are false.

In the interest of moving forward and settling the issue, we would like to request that the entire thread be removed.

We believe that the Digital Point Forums is a reputable community that provides valuable information about online marketing. It does not serve the interest of the Digital Point community to continue to have this post on your site. If the moderators at Digital Point refuse to remove this post, we would like to request a reply and justification for why it cannot be taken down.

We will be happy to present evidence to the moderators which supports our claim that "fitz72" only intention was to libel our company, and his accounts about our company are completely false. Please feel free to PM me for further information.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

    Best Regards
    Bryan

In May we made a request for the thread:

    forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1264782

to be removed by creating a new thread located at

    forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=11492267.

The moderator Smyrl stated that "We do not delete threads that do not violate our posting guidelines."

In the forum rules it states "Personal attacks against people, or sites will not be tolerated. If you have an issue with someone or their site, take it up with them personally."

It is our contention that Digital Point is a reputable forum and therefore has a policy to delete posts which contradict the forum rules.

Therefore we are requesting that the moderators or administrators at Digital Point to take down the following thread:

    forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1264782

as it does violate Digital Point's policy.

    Thank You,
    Bryan

Leaving relevant negative feedback in a deal thread of any kind (including to recruit affiliates) does not violate our posting guidelines or constitute an attack. Do not keep creating new threads or messages after you've already been given an official response multiple times.

    Thread - 1264782

Guy's, i have seen several attempts to get this removed by both parties -

The company that originally made the thread seems to be naming someone that confessed by them could be totally innocent.

The company that made the thread has had a negative comment that I believe should have been removed because there is no substance to it.

Your rules state personal attacks will not be tolerated - I fail to see that you enforce this rule.

There is clearly slander here and personal attacks throughout the thread.

This forum is not about this, and im sad it is having anything to do with it.

Similar threads concerning these parties have been on other websites named in the thread but were deleted for obvious reasons.

I would hope this forum is run by mature people who do not just lock a legitimate request to delete a harmful thread and just run away from the issue.

The author of the thread want their comments deleted
The forum rule have been broken
This forum should not allow these kind of posts. It risks turning the forum into a place where people can commit slander and get away with it. Forum members do not want that.
Confidential job application information has been posted

I would like a solid reason why there is a thread on this forum that has allowed the rules to be broken and not be taken down?

Just because someone doesn't like a post doesn't mean it's an "attack" as per the rules here. If you have a question about a thread, you should PM a moderator (and don't forget to include the link).

But if it's been reviewed before and not deleted (we don't generally delete things), then it sounds like a mod or admin has already reviewed it and decided that it doesn't violate the rules. Negative comments are not disallowed as a whole. It also doesn't matter if the thread starter / poster wants it removed. They have an 8 hour window to edit, and then posts are permanent unless we decide they violate forum rules. We don't delete things simply on request. Share the link via PM and someone will review.

I put the thread reference number in the original thread i made-

It can not be down to debate if personal attacks were made, they clearly were.

I ask you look at the thread and honestly give me your opinion. If you believe a individual has been attacked (which i assure you they have), please delete as you say you will if rules are violated -

No one wants the thread there anymore, so DP, i think it needs to go as members dont want that kind of thing on our forum.

Do not allow people to break the rules and get away with it.

Quite obviously from the merged threads here, you've been told no already - numerous times. It was not an "attack." There was a negative comment in a deal thread - that's allowed here. Had they started a new thread just to accuse someone of being a scammer, then it would have violated the rules. Case closed.
