This new site is PR8 and I don't know why

i saw i site with same links in google but page rank 0 what,s going on with google.

Total Backlinks 56396 - backlinks that's the key for everything that domains is probably worth a lot

 

Well it certainly shows you don`t need a "pretty" site to rank well ... man it`s ugly ... LOL

 

If you take a look at some of the sites on the DP coop you'll find sites with well over 100.000 links....and a low PR.

The site is still PR8, even after PR update.
Lot of go game players put the links to gokgs.com, but anyway, it's very strange.
Our oldest go game site (1992), which has links from similar users/pages has only PR4: gobase.org

If you compare the links of gobase.org and gokgs.com you may see that 90% of links they have are same.

 

I don't doubt it's a PR8, Go is a great game and I'm sure a lot of google people play it. Since KGS is one of the most popular internet go societies, then it makes sense. It's like there is only one microsoft.com or the "original" wikipedia.org...

The fact some high PR backlinks are from .Edu and .Gov have no relevance. They don't add 'extra weight' to a backlink - the only thing they do add is the PR weight in most cases, as most .edu and .gov sites have high a Pagerank.

The PageRank of the site is valid - from Yahoo it looks like the site has over 60000 links. That I think is probably PR8 worthy.
