This new site is PR8 and I don't know why

The site is about 1 year old. I know the owner and they did not buy any links before.
I check the backlinks and did not find anything special.

Who can explain me, please, why the PageRank of this site is so high?

 

Forgot to say, that it was also 8 before the last PageRank update.

Yes, but these links are mainly on blogs and not on the main pages. They don't have any PR7 links and only few PR6 links.

It is listed in google directory and dmoz so that will help, Its also saying its over 2 years old not 1 year as stated in your thread.

To be honest, this is so abnormal.

Did you guys saw the code, it's a very big mess and meta tags are close to nothing, it's really surprised me to see how much they are good in their pagerank.

 

I found 62,000 backlinks for this site

and theres some beefy power ones there too. but PR 8 is ridiculous.

so much for the theory that too many backlinks too quickly on a new site gets punished by google

62,000 backlinks in a year means at the least they would have had to be building 5000 backlinks a month or over 1200 links per week

This is a strange one, I'll SEOQuake this one up, then I'll get back to working out and wondering why it's a PR8. Or if the PR8 is even genuine. You guys are aware you could have a million links and get PR0, or 1 link and get a PR10...it's all in the name of the 301 redirect at the PR update

 

your friend is a lucky bum. I think he should sell links as much as he can before PR were decreased.

 

From a quick glance I would say it looks like a legit PR 8.

It's not one year old either. If you are a Go master you will probably figure this one out.

 

It's really unbelievlable. 'breakfast' can u ask the site owner what they have done exactly for this?
I m sure in next PR update they can lost some PR and backlinks, if they have done some wrong.
