    Hey DPers,

I've just launched a new directory for celebrity sites and I'd like to get some feedback and some submissions.

Now yellow isn't my favorite colour but I think I've managed to make a pretty good lookin' site. What do you guys think?

    http://www.bigshotcelebrity.com

As always, comments, critics and feedback is much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Loads very slow.

Need to work on loading the first page instantly.

That would keep your clients from not going back.

The directory loads quickly for me...maybe the server was a tad slow earlier. On a side note...yellow isn't my favorite color either. Speaking of which, why did you decide on this color scheme?

Thanks for the replies. I've noticed that the server it's on runs really erratic...I'll have to do something about that.

rzvagelsky, I don't know how I ended up with a yellow site :). I just thought I'd try something different for a change. I'm probably going to make several variations of this site with different colours once I get the backend cleaned up.

haha ablaye. I just named the thread "best looking directory" just to grab attention. Originally the title of the post was:

▀█▀ █▬█ █ ▄▄█▀▀ is the best looking directory!!! simply because I wanted to use unicode and that was the first thing that popped in my head. :D But I guess one of the mods changed it.

You shouldn't make the suggest category field mandatory.

For a directory your rel="nofollow" is not a good thing.

ajsa52 thanks for pointing that out. I had a nofollow on the thumbnails but a clean link on the keyword links because I originally didn't have the links open in a frame. I think I'll make it so I only have the homepage links open in a frame so everything else is clean.

What do you guys think? Do you think I should have the homepage links open in a frame like I have it now but keep all the other links clean? I don't want people coming to the site and then leaving right away. I think the adding the frame is useful and will likely make some people stay on my site longer.

I have a Will Smith site I would like to submit, but I don't see his name there.

For the webmasters submitting links to your directory, it's not a good idea, because the benefits is only traffic, no PR. And directories usually have little traffic.
For the users point of view, I really like your frame. It's easy to come back to your site. Although I've read that the new Firefox 2.0 open the new windows by default in a new tab (if you use target="_blank").

Hey Matt, I've added a Will Smith category. I've been trying to figure out a way to import dmoz categories, but nothing seems to work so until I get the time to add categories manually I guess people are stuck suggesting categories on the submit page.

@ ajsa52 thanks for the feedback. I think I'm going to scrap the frame altogether...it seems like the best thing to do. ;)
