Surfing the internet can lead you to the weirdest shit. The crap we find online is just hilarious sometimes. Other times it's just sick. This is a town some where in Europe, although I could be wrong because I'm not familiar with the language and Google can't seem to translate the page. It's an infestation unlike anything I've ever seen. The first few pictures look normal, but the farther down you scroll the more discusting it gets. Check it out!
I have seen that in certain parts of canada as well, they grow into furry catapillars within a week or so of being there. I have seen complete trees engulfed like that before, not as bad, but close to it.
I knew for a fact it wasn't Amsterdam. In the time it took for the bike to get infested like that, it would have been stolen 200 times over there being unattended like that
I knew that Sweden was laid back, but for crying out loud .... what will it take for people to do some pest control over there?
Looks like a ghost town.. That would make a great horror movie - Worm attack! J/K But seriously, I think it must take days for the worms to "take over" something, have you seen the bicycle? looks like it's been put there for the worms to live on ... or did the worms actually "attacked" the bicycle in one night?
wow that really made me unconfortable. I looks like some infestation but for sure plague control will manage that, anyway it´s really discusting :s
These are known as tent caterpillars, a common name for the larvae of the members of a family of moths. According to the info (that I'm copying), tent caterpillars are easily recognized by their large silk tents, or webs, that the larvae construct during the spring in the crotches of trees, particularly apple and cherry trees. Tent caterpillars are hairy and usually brightly colored, with blue and yellow spots. Periodically they become serious orchard pests and occur in large enough numbers to defoliate whole trees and damage the fruit. Many larvae live gregariously within the tent, which they use for shelter during the night and in rainy weather. During the day, the larvae leave the tent and feed on the leaves in nearby branches. Actually they make great fishing bait.
i remember one time back in 1996-97 the usa had an infestation of these worm things in the tree. they were everywhere but its like the built webs in the tree. not on the ground next to it. They were yellow worm things. Anyone remember that? it was like the summer of 1996 I live in kansas, but im pretty sure it was everywhere.
Yes, we remember that time well -- it was the year we descended into our worm shelter and stayed for 40 days and 40 nights and the children were frightened and the dogs howled until the moon glowed bloodworm red. Yes, the worms covered the world of man, even unto the highest mountains of Kansas. Sadly, people do not remember the worm times -- today they only make games of worms.
