this is rather interesting

i got this off an email from an internet marketer (removed the products and sales hype though, it's the content that i want to share):

Have you ever heard of Mike Mentzer?

Well, he was the first bodybuilder in history to
garner a perfect score in the 1978 Mr Universe
contest, and he was the biggest rival of The
'Governator' Arnold Schwazzerneger.

Here's the odd thing about Mike though.

You see, Mike had formulated his own contrarian
strategies for successful bodybuilding, and he called
called his training methods 'Heavy Duty'.

So while most bodybuilders like Arnold were training
for 2 or more hours a day 6 days a week and doing 20
or more sets per body part, Mike was only doing 30
minutes 3 to 4 times a week and only about 5 sets per
body part (later he would suggest doing even less, as
you will soon see).

The debate raged on: "He's wrong." "He's Crazy." "He
just is trying to make a buck." "No, Mike is right."
"He's a genius." "He has showed us the way", and so it
went and still goes on to this day.

I am biased towards Mike of course, and for good
reason.

Mike's 'Heavy Duty' training revolved around 3 core
principles:

Principle #1

Training must be intense enough to trigger the growth
mechanism, meaning forcing the muscle to grow because
you have subjected it to stress it could not perform,
i.e. failure.

Principle #2

Because of this intense stress, the workload (training
session) must not exceed the bodyâ€™s ability to
recover, so the workouts must be short. And...

Principle #3
=-=-=-=-=-=-

Because every workout is so stressful, they must be
infrequent to allow sufficient time for full recovery.

And I've personally found that these principles, when
applied to business, have gotten me explosive results!

I don't know about you, but I don't believe in working
hard.

Cos if that were the case, then all people who work
from 9-5 would be rich.

My dad worked from 8 am to 9pm at night, and he was
never by any means rich.

Conversely, I never work more than 2 hours a day, take
as much as 3 weeks off whenever I feel like it, and I
STILL make in a week what takes him a year to earn.

I'm not trying to toot my own horn here though.

What I am saying is that the rules have changed in the
new economy.

The key, is not working 'hard'.

It's about INTENSITY.

Intense, concentrated and laser focused 'work' brings
about explosive results.

And if your work has truly been intense, then you'd
need more time off.

I know. It's radical, and it's different.

But I know for SURE, that the less I work, the more I
make, and I don't intend to convince you otherwise.

All I ask you to do, is to give it a shot with 3
simple steps.

Step #1: Remove all distractions when you work.
No phone, no IM, no emails, no spouse, no kids.
Just you and your computer.

Step #2: Shorten your working time and up your work
intensity

Step #3: Take more time off to 'recover'

And there on, make it a point to work for shorter
periods of time.
