I am targeting the keyword "blue widgets"

Everyone searches for blue widgets, no one searches for widgets and I would never think of targeting that crummy word.

Today I check at Google, and for "blue widgets", which is the anchor text for all my backlinks and the keyword I have put all my SEO effort on, I am lost in cyberspace, nowhere to be found.
Blue widgets, btw, shows 6,270,000 results.

For "widgets", a word with 18,400,000 results, I am #8 How the hell did this happen?????? If I had that ranking for the real keyword I was targeting I would be earning 3 digit daily amounts at adsense !!!

its a term adopted by SEO who do not want to disclose their true keywords...for obvious fear that a better SEO will come along and outrank them.

    (rep= +1) ;)

I hope your joking, Ive thrown 500k co-op weight at the term widget, I wondered why I was getting no traffic, I thought everyone was targetting that term and I would jump on the bandwagon.

Fryman, I am getting something similar to what you described, I was targeting widgets (plural)

and Im rank 4 for that term, Yet I'm rank 1 for the term widget which is just as competitive, luckily for me its sending decent traffic so Im not complaining at all.

Also the affiliate I'm promoting on this site put up an SEO competition and the prize was £200 if you can keep a number 1 ranking on one of the 3 se's for a week.

I will win on the 30th of this month if nothing changes. :D

With 500k you would have to have some savy? right? So I would have to guess thats a wind up, or your "pissing against the wind" my friend!

But who in their right mind would be searching for widgets?

BTW, sportsoutlaw, the term "blue widgets" is used by seos as an example term, just like when you are talking about a site and use something like www.domain.com so you don't give out your real site

when talking about a specific domain, you are encouraged to refer to it as example.com(.org/.net) all of which are reserved domains for documentation purposes. domain.com is a real biz domain

yes, but you would need to be quite dumb to take domain.com as an actual domain when discussing seo
