Wow so you bought links on .edu! you can do that? how do you do that , I mean I think thats a great Idea but sounds next to impossible and how does that help your site? Isn't a .edu link worth just the same as .com or .info? I mean isn't PR , PR if its a 4 PR .edu and 4 PR .com with no text on a page and one link shouldn't they or do they pass the same pr? And what about .org does that pass more too? I got really interested when you mentioned this Whats your source for selling you these links can you hook a brother up? Recently I spent about 900 dollars on a linking campain that didn't seem to work and I am disapointed. oh well I will keep up the building unique content and see how that goes.
As long as Y!'s big shakeup on May 11 hasn't stabilized, there's no way to tell what it takes to be in the top 10!
Has anyone noticed that if you add a new content on your blog or update RSS feed too often, your rank at SERP gets dropped? This happened to me several times. I wonder if updating daily is too much and actually not good idea? If you do link exchange too much in a few days, you lose your position in SERP also. Yahoo recognizes over SEO?
Looks pretty stable to me. I have a bunch of page one rankings that haven't budged since that update.
Even if Yahoo! does use Google's PR in their algorithm as some have suggested there are a lot more factors than PR in terms of getting good rankings. .edu links are generally more valuable because they are from more authoritative/expert sites.
Just have a unique niche and you will rank high. If you want to rank for mortgages or web hosting, you are going to have a problem.
Thanks for the tips! I haven't been around in a while... been burried in books. LOL! Anyway, when you say "getting good links", what is the best way to do so. I assume you mean when other people's sites link back to mine. I read an article about Google Bombing the other day and while it seems to be frowned upon, the basic principle makes sense to me... use the KeyWord you want to be optimized for as the link back to your site, and that's how Google will associate a keyword with your site and rank it. So, rather than put a hyperlink to my domain address, it would be better/best to link to my site off a keyword I'd like to be searched/found under like UMPC for my GoPC.com site. Is that about right? I think delicious is probably for their future "social search" aspirations. They may be using it in some way in their regular search but it is very easy to spam delicious so I can't see them incorporating in their main search in any big way yet.
I can not agree more! It is so true! Yahoo search is shit! I see SPAM websites on some of the "major" keywords that people use. It's things like these that I hope that people will start using MSN more and well I think they already are! I get a good amount of traffic from MSN (well good enough for me) and I am happy with it. Google is a bitch indeed but at least they have good search results. Yahoo is lacking far behind when it comes to quality search results.
Very interesting points, and a good post. I was wondering if Yahoo had developed some kind of an age filter like G's sandbox... it looked like they have. With solid use of the above, key word competition permitting, about how long to see some results with Yahoo?
