this is a tricky placement...how could I do it?

    Hey folks...

Before I spend the next two hours trying to get this to work, I need a plan. I have an image which rides halfway between the webpage main area and the sidebar background. The background is a gradient.

You'll see exactly what I'm talking about at www.jontakiff.com

Is it a matter of having the background behind the balloon be pixel-dead on perfect with the gradient to maintain the illusion I'm going for? Do I need to slice the graphic, put half on the background, half on the main page? And I'm assuming I could run into big problems with different screen widths, etc. as well. How do you think I could make this happen?

    thanks!

I don't know what illusion your after and i don't see any sense of the vertical background with the ballons, but as you say you're trying to get an illusion. Why not Center the vertical-gradient with the ballon since you wanted it centered anyways. Not sure if I got the question right.
