So they refused to air it. Fair enough, it's a free country and if they don't want to take the money from someone they don't have too. But watching the commercial I don't see a reason not to air it. Do You? Lnk&feature=player_embedded
I'm assuming you mean "liberal" sarcastically as CNN is anything but liberal. They are corporate media. And they aren't showing this ad because it cuts too close to home (it attacks some of their owners.) It's one of the biggest (and most successful) lies the right wingers have been able to sell that the MSM is "liberal." They never give truly liberal ideas a chance on MSM (see their treatment of single payer health care.)
Ok back up here, $5883 an hour, I don't see how that is how that is more than most people make in a year at least here in the US. $15,600 is minimum wage @ 40hrs a week. $7800 is min wage @ 20hrs a week. You're probably a teen to make less than this or retired or what have you (like golf money as one employee at Walmart would put it).
Stroh, just to clarify, the quote is actually "Ed makes more in one day than the average worker makes in one year."
One man... as well as hundreds more are getting rich off the current insurance setup. It's sad to see for those that are having trouble affording health insurance, but has nothing to do with whether or not THIS healthcare reform is right for us or not. Personally, if I don't like the temperature at the top of a cliff, I'm not going to jump and assume I'll be better off wherever I end up. There are SOOOO many details in this bill that are just flat out scary and not being addressed. With the many I and others have mentioned on this forum and all over the web I came across another this past weekend. My wife is pregnant and due next month as I mentioned when talking about abortion in the abortion thread. Well, we're doing a home birth, just like with our last baby. Talking with our midwife, she's horrified by the bill because it will basically do away with her and home births. She said the national midwive group pushed hard for it to be included, but were told birth's should be in the hospital. They gave details, stats, and studies showing the reduced costs to the healthcare system, the fact that countries who use more natural birthing style and people like midwives have a lower infant death rate. They showed the issues like infections and accidental deaths caused in hospitals as well as mixups, and un-needed procedures. Now of course some situations and risk levels need the availability of hospitals and emergency care while giving birth, but this is just another ridiculous fact of this bill according to her. She said she will be out of a job. I'm amazed liberals are ignoring things like this and are trying to use a guy getting rich to argue their side. Especially considering all the studies comparing medicaid vs. the private insurance cost per person showing the much higher government run version due to fraud and mismanagement. If guys like this can get rich and still be more efficient than the government's programs that says something big about just giving the government more potential control. The above I saw on the news but I'm sure there are some sources out there that cover this, I'd look but in a rush this morning. Another interesting thing I saw on the news about a week ago was a study done in the UK for people who were on the government healthcare. They were polled and asked if they could afford a current private option, would they. Over 90% said YES.
Both CNN and MS"N" are both EXTREMELY liberal. If you cannot see that you are completely blind. They are both very one-sided networks that rattle off more opinion than news. MSN seems to have started to come around a bit in some areas finding that being dead last place does not have any advantage in the news business. CNN is very careful to pick and choose only those advertisers that fit its demographic, which is, young white unintelligent males.
I didn't know about the effects this bill would have on midwives. I think the reason this ad focused on the fact that someone is getting reach off of health care is the fact that this guys pay check could do a lot more good if it was put back into the health care system and went to help pay someones medical expenses. 90% of Europeans may want to over haul their health care system but I haven't heard many say they want to be like America's
Coming from the biggest NAZI on the planet, I will take that as a compliment. She's what I like to call a sick twisted bitch. I think of a good four letter word to describer her, but that's a little bit too vile even for DP.
