hi everyone. sorry im not selling anything but i need some help.

i have been trying to find the easy way of taking one wordpress install on a server and moving it to my other hosts server. i have been told their is a way of moving and xml file to the new host and then just doing a fantastico new install on the host then uploading the xml file and the contains file to it.

since this is the place that the most transfers happen i thought asking all of you how to go about this would work. just think of it as me selling a blog to myself. please help with this and thank you in advance

What you are trying to do is very easy.

I think you mean sql file instead of xml file. But yes you can transfer the database file to your new host and that will include all of your content/comments/posts BUT will not contain any other changes you have made to the blog (such as plugins/tweaks and design changes).

Your best bet is to use a free FTP program to download and then upload everything to your new host.

You should ask in this forum for a full response http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=40

And if it's the same control panel for the 2 servers, just make a backup on one and restore on the other.

I guess you're running cPanel or DA. Both have backup and restore facility...
