This cant be right? 75 clicks and 3 cents?

Discussion in 'Reporting & Stats' started by adsensenewb, Feb 15, 2006.

My stats showed 75 clicks but only 3 cents. I dont see this could be possible. They keywords that my site is focused on have a high bid of 5-6 dollars.
I know that the actual bid isnt as high as the max bid, but .04 cents per click????? Could alot of the clicks be from link units?

Maybe some users clicked twice or even more on the ads - this might be counted as one click (or even nothing). They also count your clicks - but you don't get money for that - and you might get problems if you click on your own ads.
There might be some more reasons.

i'm sure you haven't, since your thread is not "75 clicks and i'm banned!". but really, alot of factors can play a part as to why you got horribly low earnings. try waiting a few days and see if the trend continues. by the way i'm interested in your URL. :)

may be thats the boomerang you get for making pages for high bid $ rather than for usefulness
most likely the bids go down as soon as more publishers appear on that "high bid" keyword market and at the end you get nothing at all for no work at all
there are thousands of "publishers" just focusing on esy fast money
    your competition hence may grow

best always is to become a true expert and provide whatever people need and you get thousands of visitors per day and hundreds of clicks each in the cents - ending up in a useful monthly income

Did you asked someone to click the ads?
That's lots of clicks for only 3 cents, google is detecting invalid clicks from your site for sure, be carefull with that!

No- I didnt ask anyone to click ads.

Hans, I chose a topic that i was interested in and knew alot about. I have made an informational site that is as useful as I can make it for people. The keywords just happen to be a semi-high bidding term

I know it takes awhile to show up, bu this was like a week ago.

Even if you are smart- priced, 3 cents for 75 clicks is abnormal.

Its almost six hours ... adsense stats dont take so long to update.

I can only think of one reason.... someone has clicked your ads repeatedly.

You should email Google-support about it.

It means invalid clicks were being made on your account. I would suggest not even telling friends about your sites as you might have a situation where they try to "help" you out (without you asking) and wind up getting you banned. If you are 100% sure you didn't accidently make the clicks, or that the clicks were not generated by anyone you know, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

As far as pricing, it's very common to get low paying clicks on the so-called high paying keywords. Google would need to consider your site an authority site- along with other factors, for you to be able to escape "Smart Pricing".

Even if you have a site that is several years old and a top ranking site, you may have a situation where the top advertisers have opted out of Google's "content network" which means their ads will never run on your site. This happens frequently with high paying keywords. They also now have the ability to bid $6 for the "Search Network" and 25 cents for the "Content Network". Adsense publishers get a portion of what is bid on the Content, not Search network, so google would be the only ones getting the $6 click - while publishers would get a portion of the 25 cents.

Just to clarify, surely Google doesn't deal in fractions of a cent, right? The absolute minimum legitimate earnings you could make from 75 clicks would be 75 cents (correct me if I'm wrong). Definitely something funny going on there.

So if someone uses the search bar and clicks on an ad, do I get the search network price?

There is actually three choices for an adwords advertiser.

Google search - When users search on Google
Search network - When users search for my keywords on Google's search partners.
Content network - Ads that run on adsense publisher sites (like yours).

Because of click fraud, a lot of advertisers opt out of the content network, or bid a lower price than google search or network which means their ads will never show on your site. The content pricing is the only pricing you can receive.

Ok, so lets say my ads are paying extremely low right now, and its not invallid clicks or somthing like that.

My site is just barely up. So as more people start coming to it, and I keep updating it with content, and PR and SE rank goes higher, will I earn more per click for my ads?

Well you wont be earning 0.04 per click thats for sure. Of course it really depends on the niche of your site, but your ave cpc should not be lower than 3 cents.
