Third-tier and small SEs

I rarely see traffic come from a third-tier or small search engine, but when I do I see a several to a few dozen hits that day. (A hit is a hit and gladly accepted.) Anyone have any favorite small engines they check up on from time to time?

    Mine would be:
    Soople
    MyWay
    (the now defunct) Proogle
    feedster
    eurekster
IceRocket (really good for image searches)

Also, I guess more of a second tier, I am partial to:
    Gigablast
    Snap.com
    Zeal

Sadly, I don't get any traffic from them yet.

generally I usually view the smaller search engines as a waste of time unless they are niche specific or also have static directory links too

nice point awall. Most are a waste of time. I have big hopes for gigablast and snap - i think they are doing things right. The others, eh, I wouldn't miss them if the stopped functioning yesterday.

    >I still use it as you can sort the sites that have IBLs to others by PageRank.

the only thing that sucks is now that google only shows a random small sampling of backlinks its effectiveness diminished. they used to show mostly PR4 and above backlinks.

Thanks, brak, been aware of that for a while.

awall19, I agree. Prog isn't as effective as it used to be. I've been using it less and less in my work.

If Google wants us to play their little PR game, they should actually show us all of the BL's. Or at least most of them.

Myway brings a nice amount of traffic to me. The others you mentioned do nothing for me though!

I get a lot of completely untargeted (based upon the search terms reported) traffic from Qango. I haven't bothered to dig into my logs to see if they are real humans (full page requests, actually visit other pages, etc.) or not.

Now Google shows a sample of pages of all PRs, not just PR4+ as it was in the past.

A good place to look for backlinks is the new MSN Search they show a lot more than Google or Yahoo does for my site.

It's facinating sometimes to see where traffic comes from. When I had my business selling railroad signals, I got most of my traffic from the New Jersey area through some railroad related SE or website. The sources of traffic are just very surprising sometimes.
