Over the last 4 weekends I have been getting precious little conversions (read this as one or two) and lots of clicks. The weekend can cost me say $120 and nothing to show for it generally. Has anyone else paused their campaigns like this? I know if the campaigns aren't running then I can't get any conversions but its starting to annoy me a bit.
Under the circumstances, I would definitely not have them run on the weekends if you've been watching that pattern for four weeks and you get the same thing. You don't have to go in and manually pause your campaigns every Friday night and turn them back on Monday morning. There is a facility which allows you to limit your campaigns by day. Hope this helps. Michael
A lot of people pause the campaign on the weekend, i am not one of them. Sometimes i receive sales with 0 clicks, this is becuase of the "cookie" period. My main advertisers have a 30 day cookie and its possible these sales come from my weekend clicks, id look at the campaigns you are running, if some of them arefor products / services where they get a quote may be worth keeping on the weekend as long as you are earning from it.
Thanks guys. Its interesting to see others have suffered from these window shoppers. The only doubt I have is that maybe they are just window shopping to come in for a sale during the week, therefore I could miss them browsing if I shut down my campaign at the weekend. Has anyone added a 'bookmark' function to their forms so that people can come back to them without having to go through clicking the advert again?
Ok, the stats for Saturday 25/8/07 on my main campaign:- 24 clicks, cost = $23.77, conversions = 0 On my other campaign. 12 clicks, cost = $12.21, conversions = 2. 16.67% conversion rate. (better result here)
Thanks for sharing. And good for you that you monitor so closely - as you should. I have learned something here.
Thanks FB. My stats for Sunday 26/8/07 Main campaign:- 16 clicks, $16, 1 conversion (6.25% conversion rate) Sub campaign:- 17 clicks, $18, 0 conversions...... Its a bank holiday in England today so lets see if the party clicking atmosphere continues.
Weekends are always the busiest and most profitable for me. Then again I just need my visitors to click ads to get paid rather than sell something.
I limit the time some of my campaigns run to help against click fraud and avoid the visitors who don't like to convert. If I pause mine it's between 1:00 am and 6:00 am.
This has been a timely thread for me. I just started pausing my ads at certain times. However, I am confused about setting time and how that affects the display of ads in different time zones. My ads appear in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. If I want my ads to appear from, say, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., do I just set that up in the AdWord admin interface and Google takes care of figuring out when to display the ads in each time zone? Or do I have to calculate what time works best, based on MY time zone?
well i have a few service based business, so everyone is a window shopper, until they call, or email lol but yes, i pause all the time, esp during the off seasons, or when im out of town, or vacation, or snow season
I always found the weekends to be Sh~* I used to just have a lower budget for those days. The competition was fierce..
I've only seen a reduced conversion rate on one campaign, and I've never seen my cost per click increase. So for most of my campaigns, the clicks are as profitable at the weekend as they are during the week. Since my campaigns are profitable, I believe that the extra money they generate more than compensates for a lower clickthrough rate, even where one exists. That said, the majority of campaigns have a good clickthrough rate at the weekend - perhaps because they are targetted at individuals, rather than businesses.
