I have been a member of forums for a while and post frequently in health and fitness. I have over 2500 posts on a computer forum because they have a health and fitness section. Should i have started my own website from the beginning? Should i just keep posting in other peoples forums to share health and fitness tips? I dont know what the advantage would be to having my own site other than being in control of it all.
I take it you're talking about creating a forum. The advantages of having your own website is earning money. If you are able to create a successful forum on the topic that interests you, it would be great. Good Luck!
You could earn money by having stuff like adsense on your forum like digitial point does. But ya it does cost money to start up too. Most forum never get active enough to earn money, usually its a cost. But yes you do have more control and if you enjoy doing it, by all means i think you should get one. Its doesn't cost too much maybe around 80/per year to host a forum yourself.
If you market the forum right and get people to join and make the forum look good then I think it will become active by itself. The more people talk about it the more active it becomes. Most people give up but I would stick to it, and keep promoting it for a good year or so.
When you make a forum, be sure to stick with it. Don't expect instant results. Building forum traffic usually takes a bit of time, but once the ball is rolling it's pretty much self-sufficient.
Forums take time to develop, they are pretty easy to maintain and are actually a lot of fun once you get them going (I had one with over 10,000 members and sold it and now have a new one starting). I would say go with adsense and affiliate advertisements but remember to make sure you put in your admin panel to edit out the main curse words you can think of putting a star such as sh*t because if not Adsense CAN ban you for it because they can say excessive cursing. Forums are fun things to run IMO and if you know people from the past board you were at invite them over and spread the word and it should develop quiet easily if it is set up well
Believe it or not, but if you monetize your forum correctly, then there is a 95%+ chance that you will make much more from it than what you would spend on hosting. Some people can even life of their forum earnings. It's not just about setting up a forum and putting adsense on it. There are more and better ways than just that.
Since I don't have time to develop this niche, this ones on me. A fitness resource site and forum for computer geeks. They don't call me nichemaster for no reason.
Forums can be a good way to earn money online, but they are time consuming and require a small investment of money, and a large investment of time.
Do that forum allow people to have signatures? If so, please send me a PM. I would like to rent your signature on that forum. Let me know.
The setup cost for a forum are minimal and if it takes off the earning potential could be huge. The downside is as many posters have pointed out they can be very time consuming. I think if I was you I would give it a go; if you do I want to wish you the best of luck.
That is a good idea to own a site belong to you.But firstly you need a good hosting,a hot domain, and a good idea of course. After the site is setted, you have to promote it,get backlinks, post good content.i think that will spend you half a year, then you might own a good site and make $$$.
