i'm thinking of learning php because i don't really like the idea of having to keep getting coders to code stuff for me, but first i was wondering if it was a must to learn html? i know this might seem like a stupid question but yeah i'm asking it. and how are some good ways to learn php and get good at it?

Yes, learn HTML first. If you find HTML hard then you will find php to be much harder. And it is 100% neccesary to understand HTML if you are going to write coded web pages.

Html is trivial to learn. Seriously, much better if you learn how to use that before taking on php.

HTML and CSS are what you'll use to build the presentation of the website though. You have to learn HTML if you're going to make web apps.

HTML is completely fundamental, and it's very easy too. You can learn it in 1 or 2 days. Here you can find very easy to understand tutorials. http://www.w3schools.com

    Good Luck!!

If you're starting on the wonderful world of web programming, I recommend learning Ruby on Rails and/or Django Project.

You'll learn a new programming language either way, and also a nice web framework :)
