hi....i'm thinking of writing a novel...so can you guys suggest me some idea and base story for it...i thought of a few my self...but someone's advice should not be ignored....
I am also thinking of writing a novel. I have a few ideas that are of a scifi nature and have worked out much of the basic plot but every time that I find that I have time to write I am not in the mood for writing. One tip is to write a short story about each idea and show it to friends to see if it works. If it works keep it and if it doesn't work file it away and maybe it might fit in later on somewhere. I am woundering if anyone here has any advice to keep motivated for writing?
A good website and forum for you guys to look at (if you don't already know it) would be www.NaNoWriMo.org. There are also scattered links and references there to lots of other writers' sites and forums. And this website might also be pretty helpful and interesting to you.
Writing a novel is a major commitment. Before you get started you should develop a framework. Plot out the story from beginning to end so your story does not meander. Of course, a story can be organic, and nothing needs be set in stone, but this will keep you on track. More importantly, create your characters, complete with their backgrounds, likes, dislikes, personality quirks etc. In order for a story to ring true your characters have to behave like real people. If you take the time to flesh them out, and then write them according to their traits your story will be much more believable. These steps require both time and discipline. If you can't even get through this process, then try to write an entire novel will likely turn out to be nothing more than a colossal waste of time.
